WEP = Wired Equivelant Privacy (just encrypts traffic) - the connection key can be sniffed, cracked, and connection accessed, WPA = Wireless Protected Access (uses a password to access the AP or Wireless Router, WPA Enterprise = WPAE (Uses a Username AND Password to access an AP or Wireless Router). 802.11a = 5Ghz band, 802.11g/b/n = 2.4Ghz band (b = 11mb/s bandwidth, g = 54mb/s bandwidth (turbo g = 108mb/s), n = up to 300mb/s bandwidth. Bandwidth is not the same thing as throughput kiddies!

WEP is by no means a protocol. It's just an algorithm. It stands for Wired Equivalent Privacy.
